Spartans runners top North Mason

The Bainbridge boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Port Orchard last weekend and swept their dual meet with North Mason.

The girls prevailed over the Bulldogs, 19-44, while the boys were victorious, 20-39, in the races at Marcus Whitman Middle School.

The girls took four of the five top spots, going 1-3-4-5. Junior Lucy King won the race with a time of 20 minutes, 18.70 seconds, well ahead of Kezlie Thygesen of North Mason, who came in 44 seconds later. Bainbridge senior Cassidy Parr took third in 21:59.70, and she was followed closely by three freshmen — Lily Curtis (22:26.50), Liliana Pohl (22:41.90) and Hailey McCullock (22:55.70). Cate Gleason was the final scoring runner, taking seventh in 23:14.90.

North Mason’s Noah Hasselblad took home the victory in the boys race, but Bainbridge runners occupied the next five spots. Alexander Miller finished second in 17:26.10, followed by Aaron Ramirez (17:59), James Nick Grant (18:59.40), Bodie Strom (19:06.30) and Abe Cole (19:08.80).
