Spartans roll past Raiders in tourney finale

The Bainbridge Spartan volleyball team bounced back from a loss against Lakeside in the Metro League Tournament to vanquish Nathan Hale for a seventh-place finish in the tourney.

The clutch win sent the Spartans to Districts, where they were scheduled to again meet up with Lakeside at Sammamish High Thursday in a loser-out affair.

In the Metro tourney battle against the Lions, Lakeside prevailed 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-21) against a scrappy Spartan squad Saturday.

Ava Targett finished with five kills for BHS, while teammate Mariko Ronan added four kills.

In the Saturday afternoon meeting with Nathan Hale, the Spartans won, 3-1

(25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 25-22).

Julia Jakubik paced Bainbridge with eight kills against the Raiders, while

Allie Wildsmith contributed seven kills and Olivia Van Ness had four kills.

“Overall, the girls played well and we will be focused on consistency and passing throughout the week to prepare for districts,” said Spartan Coach Dominique Atherley.
