Spartans give Issy fits in LAX

SAMMAMISH – Bainbridge overpowered Issaquah as the Spartans ran to a crucial 17-7 win in girls varsity lacrosse late last week.

Bainbridge’s one-two power punch of Sophia Hagstromer and Mackenzie Chapman spoiled Issaquah’s perfect season as the Spartans gave them their first loss of the year.

Hagstromer scored six times in the game and added five assists.

Chapman also split the posts for six goals. She added two assists, a groundball, six draws and a caused turnover.

Two other Spartans rounded out the BHS offense.

Kendall Havill added three goals and an assist, plus four groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Teammate Eleanor Collins finished with two goals.

Issaquah was held to just 17 shots on goal, and BHS goalie Thuy Ortiz had 10 saves for a 58.8 save percentage.
