The Bainbridge High School varsity wrestling team won a match and lost a match in a dual meet Thursday, Jan. 17 at Roosevelt High School.
First, against their host, the Spartans claimed a 46-24 win.
Then, against Ballard, the island squad was defeated 36-34.
The Spartans next traveled to Lakeside High on Saturday, Jan. 19 for the End of Days Tournament, and returned to Paski Gymnasium for the final home event of the regular season on Tuesday, Jan. 22, hosting Central Kitsap.
Against Roosevelt, BHS scored six forfeit wins, their opponent three, and double forfeits negated the 170- and 220-pound brackets.
BHS’ Hiram Topham (113-pounds) pinned Adlai Knutson in 3:24 and Indigo Weappa (126) scored a 12-4 major decision against Silas Colombara.
Roosevelt’s Matthew Chung (132) pinned Cameron Williams in 1:29.
Against Ballard, BHS scored two forfeit wins, the Beavers got four, and there was one double forfeit (182-pounds).
On the mat, Ballard’s Brenden Day (106) pinned Harrison Cate in 3:22 and Jeremy Miyaki (120) pinned Levi Field-Bennett in 56 seconds.
BHS’ Hiram Topham (113) won a 9-8 decision against Kayla Rogers; Indigo Weappa (126) pinned William Hostetler in 3:04; Cameron Williams (132) won a 12-2 major decision against Cooper Vaughn; 145-pound bruiser Doug Takada nabbed a 4-0 decision against Jacob Day; and Clayton Marsh (152) pinned Devin Crowley in one minute flat.
