Spartan girls continue win streak with victory over Snohomish

The Spartans have won four in a row since their 9-9 tie with Eastside Catholic just before spring break, and Bainbridge continues to hold the top spot in the Alki Conference.

The Spartans shot out to an early lead against Snohomish, and led 13-2 at the half.

Other top scorers for Bainbridge included Paige Brigham and Amy Willerford, who each finished with a hat trick. BHS goalie Maddie Stevenson tallied seven saves on the night.

Hanna Dalrymple led Snohomish with six goals.

Earlier this week, Bainbridge clobbered Kennedy 18-6 on the road.

A very balanced attack helped the Spartans with open the week with a win over the Lancers.

Freshman Sonia Olson led the Spartans. She scored a game-high four points, followed by senior Regan Wortley, junior Sallie Marx and sophomore Truman Flynn with three goals each.

Kyra Wortley and Amy Willerford each brought in a pair of goals, as well, in the Bainbridge win.

Last week, the Spartans topped Holy Names Academy 18-2 and beat Ballard 15-1.

It was a Bainbridge clinic from start to finish in both games.

Against Holy Names, the defending state champ Spartans marched to a 13-1 advantage by the intermission.

Sonya Olson netted four goals for the Spartans, while Brigham and Kyra Wortley added three each.

Wortley also came up big with an amazing seven draw controls. Ellen Carpenter and Amy Willerford added two goals each, and team captain Regan Wortley had a good all-around game with one goal, two assists, one caused turnover and two draw controls.

Stevenson and Mckenzie Scott split time in goal for BHS.

Megan Chamberlain and Wendy Donie recorded the only goals for Holy Names in the contest.

In action against Ballard, Brigham scored two goals and also recorded two assists and two ground balls for the Spartans in the team’s fourth win of the season over the Beavers.

The Spartans outscored Ballard 9-1 in the first half and blanked the Beavers in the second half. Ellie Bergeron recorded the lone goal for Ballard.

Marx also scored twice for the Spartans, while goalkeeper Stevenson recorded two saves in the win.

The Spartans will continue play on Monday, April 22 on the road against Seattle Prep and return home Wednesday, April 24 to face Lakeside.
