NK girls win, but Kingston girls lose

Bainbridge

Both the boys and girls basketball teams had play-in games Feb. 9 to see if they would advance to the district tournaments.

The boys played Yelm and the girls Timberline, but after the newspaper’s deadline.

The Spartans edged Olympic last Thursday night in boys basketball 54-51. BHS improved to 8-6 in league, 10-7 overall.

District playoffs for 3A boys begin Feb. 12.

At Bainbridge, the Spartan girls won against Olympic 58-42. BHS improved to 6-8 in league play, 7-9 overall.

District playoffs for 3A girls start Feb. 11.

North Kitsap

After losing a heart-breaker to Olympic League-leading Sequim 38-37 Monday, the Viking girls rebounded to beat North Mason Tuesday night 50-42.

NK clinched third place in the league with its record of 10-3, 13-4 overall, with a home game left against Port Angeles Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Vikings ran away with a 90-55 win over Bremerton Saturday.
