Meadowmeer, Havill host improvement course for golfers

A host of how-to and golf skills clinics for duffers of all experience levels and ages will be held throughout the coming months at Meadowmeer Golf and Country Club in conjunction with Havill Golf.

BAINBRIDGE – A host of how-to and golf skills clinics for duffers of all experience levels and ages will be held throughout the coming months at Meadowmeer Golf and Country Club in conjunction with Havill Golf.

Last year, in addition to the island’s first ever Junior Golf League, game pro and head coach of the Bainbridge High girls varsity golf team Ian Havill led a “Ladies Short Game Clinic.”

This year, he and his staff have added the men’s clinic and the “Get Golf Ready” and “Get Golf Better” programs for men and women.

The events are scheduled to begin in April and will run through August. The upcoming calendar includes:

“PGA Get Golf Ready” from April 18-21 and May 9-12. Designed for the beginning or returning golfer. Each class offers an educational skill that includes putting, chipping, iron play and metal woods. Along with the instructional component of each class, the learned skills are than simultaneously applied out on to the golf course;

“PGA Get Golf Better” on Aug. 1, 3, 5, and 7 and Aug. 15, 17, 19 and 21. This program is designed to improve the skills and knowledge of a developing golfer to be better than a beginner, to be taken upon the completion of “Get Golf Ready” and/or some previous golf experience;

“PGA Jr. League Golf,” from June 1 to July 24. A group of local golf teams who play a series of games against each other, utilizing a nurturing and social scramble format. The program is available to boys and girls, 13 and under, of all abilities. PGA and LPGA professionals exclusively serve as captains and are responsible for creating a welcoming environment for all that encourages skill and character development.
