Kitsap teams, individuals perform well at 2A districts

Bainbridge girls claim team title

The Bainbridge girls team finished first at the 2A West Central District Track and Field Championships May 21-23 at Bremerton High School, with a cumulative score of 107, finishing well ahead of runner-up Orting, which scored 56 points.

On the boys side, Steilacoom took first as a team (77 points), followed by Olympic (71.5). Bremerton placed fourth with 65 points and Bainbridge fifth with 62 points.

Girls results

Cate Torell of Bainbridge placed first overall in the 200-meter event with a time of 25.78 seconds.

Spartan Laine Romney placed first in the 400M event with a time of 59.83. North Kitsap Viking Julie Castillejo placed second with a time of 1:00.29.

Evelyn Shutske (5:17.31) and Savai Esarey (5:19.49) of Bainbridge placed first and second, respectively, in the 1600M event.

Spartan Kaitlyn Davis placed first in the 3200M event, earning a time of 11:58.29.

Maya Jimenez of Bainbridge placed first in the Triple Jump event, earning a score of 38-02.00.

The Bainbridge team of Shutske, Cara Brundige, Savai Eseray and Vega Hendrickson also finished first in the 4×400 relay.

Spartan Sabine Hartenstine placed second overall in the 100M Hurdles event (33”) with a time of 16.18 and second overall in the 300M Hurdles event (30”) with a time of 46.78.

The Bainbridge team of Brundige, Maya Zick, Romney, and Torrell placed second in the 4×100 Relay event with a time of 49.99.

Other individual Kitsap girls who performed well included Calina Morgan of North Kitsap who place first in the 100M event with a time of 12.55. Bremerton Knight Lily Judie followed suit with a time of 12.57 and Torrell earned a time of 12.59.

Bremerton Knight Rylee Wheaton placed first in the Shot Put event (4kg), earning a score of 41-04.50.

NK Vikings Bella Johnston (9-06.00) and Arabelle Miller (8-06.00) placed second and third, respectively in the Pole Vault event.

Boys results

Many Kitsap boys finished first in individual events.

Olympic Trojan Rico Cooper placed first in the High Jump event, earning a score of 6-02.00. Bainbridge Spartan Robert Dunn Smith and Bremerton Knight Aaron Culler followed suit, both scoring 6-00.00.

Cooper also placed first in the Triple Jump event, scoring 45-06.50.

Trojan Kyler Simpson placed second in the 300M Hurdles event (36”), earning a score of 42.15.

Bremerton Knight Isaiah Cadengo placed first in the 100M (11.03), 200M (21.84), and 400M (47.99) events.

Dallin Anderson of Bremerton placed first in the 800m event with a time of 1:53.13 and second in the 1600M event with a time of 4:18.66.

Knight Asher Stewart placed first in the 3200M event with a time of 9:43.95. Bainbridge Spartan Ryan Dodge placed third in the event with a time of 9:45.58.

The Bremerton team of Cadengo, Anderson, Joshua Lueders, and Hawkin Ernst placed first in the 4×400 Relay event with a time of 3:20.95. The Olympic Trojan team of Kyler Simpson, Carson Emelio, Jeremy Mukira, and Andy Glaze placed third in the event with a time of 3:28.93.

Bainbridge Spartan Matthew Grant placed second in the Shot Put (12lb) event, earning a score of 48-08.50.

NK Viking James Rebman placed second in the Javelin event, earning a score of 160-05.

The North Kitsap team of Jackson Jacobsen, Lathan Becoats, Solomon Furne, and Cohen Meis earned third place in the 4×100 Relay event with a time of 43.56.
