Soccer co-captain Fab Rezayat termed visiting Nathan Hale “the nicest team we’ve faced this year – they said ‘Thank you’ and ‘Welcome to Metro.’”

Hale even played the entire game without committing a foul – a sharp contrast to the rough ‘n tumble, push ‘n shove tactics common to nearly all the Spartans’ previous opponents.

Courtesy and class, though, didn’t prevent the Spartans from dealing their guests a 6-0 thumping Friday, to snap a five-game losing streak.

Bainbridge scored in the second minute, as Emily Haber sent a perfect pass down the center to a streaking Rezayat.

Though the Hale goalie deflected Rezayat’s point-blank shot, it caromed to Lindsay Lund for an easy tap-in.

Haber was also instrumental in the second Bainbridge goal, which came twelve minutes later. She sent a quick crisp pass to Lindsey Carlson on the left side of the goal, and Carlson sent an equally quick, crisp pass to Lund in front of the net for the freshman’s second goal of the game.

Christen Faltermeier banged in a 25-yarder in the 49th minute from about 25 yards out on the right side. After Lund picked up a hat trick six minutes later on a shot that the goalie got a hand on but couldn’t stop, Carlson had a mirror image goal to Faltermeier’s from the left side in the 68th minute, even to the point of kicking it left-footed.

In the waning moments, Erin Wiggins tapped a corner kick to Faltermeier who in turn tapped the ball to Adriana Gonzalez-Medina. She centered the ball to an onrushing Suzanne Fossum and the senior co-captain – normally a defender who moved to forward after the team went up 4-0 – headed in the game’s final goal.

“Hopefully this will carry over,” Rezayat said. “We’d like to go to Prep (they visit the Panthers tomorrow) and even up the score. We just need to cut out the lapses.”

Added Fossum: “I think we can beat them if we play hard a full 80 minutes,”

Bainbridge JVs 5, Nathan Hale JVs 0 – The Spartans ran their record to 6-1 behind Alex Harris’ hat trick and shutout goalkeeping by Logan Mohr and Jaxen Solseng. Jen Utley and Tucker Huget scored the other two Bainbridge goals.

The team hosts Seattle Prep, who handed them their only defeat, on Thursday at 5 p.m.
