Franklin bests Bainbridge ballers, girls and boys

Both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams were defeated by the visitors from Franklin Friday, Dec. 21, when the Spartans hosted the Quakers.

First, the girls were bested 65-54.

It was the Spartans’ third straight loss, and left them with an overall season record of 3-8 (1-6 in conference). They are in 12th place in the Metro standings, ahead of only Nathan Hale (0-6 in conference).

The girls next travel to play Kingston at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29.

Against Franklin, the Bainbridge boys likewise lost, felled by the Quakers 61-56.

It was also their third straight loss, and left them with an overall season record of 3-7 (1-6 in conference). They are in 11th place in the Metro standings, tied with Lakeside (2-7 overall) and head of Nathan Hale (0-6 in conference).

The island boys played Olympic on the road on Thursday, Dec. 27 and will host Kingston at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29.

Both teams will play at home on the same night again on Friday, Jan. 4, against Chief Sealth (girls begin at 7, boys at 8:30 p.m.).
