CK, Klahowya sweep Bainbridge on the mat

Bainbridge dropped both of its wrestling duals against Central Kitsap schools Jan. 17.

Central Kitsap started the dual against the Spartans, defeating them 45-11.

Cougar Nate Cronin earned a forfeit victory at 106 pounds. Both teams double-forfeited at 113, 120 and 126 pounds.

CK continued to hold a shutout for three more matches. Carter Chadwick and Quentin Lawrence pinned Retto Peato and Baha Ali in the first period. At 145 pounds Levi Beebe battled Tyler Dodge and escaped with a 4-0 decision.

Spartan Wyatt Chabot broke the shutout with an 8-5 decision over Jesse Anderson. However, CK captured four of the last six matches, three by forfeit, and Brennon Hammond won by pin.

At 170 pounds Spartan Garrett Goade and teammate and heavyweight Wyatt Goade were the other two Bainbridge wins. Garrett picked up a third-period pin over Chris Cartagena while Wyatt beat Joma Robert 10-5.

Klahowya also won 37-12 win over BHS. The teams double-forfeited at 106, 126, 160, 182 and 195 pounds. Carson Wench and Deakin Wench picked up forfeit wins at 113 and 120 pounds.

Rease Decourval pinned Peato, Kano Claire defeated Ali 15-3, and Sean Price pinned Dodge for the other Klahowya wins.

Chabot and Wyatt Goade were the two Spartans who won, both pinning their opponents in the first period.

But Klahowya’s Logan Wallace stunned Garrett Goade by pinning him in the second period.

Eagle heavyweight Colton Dell ended the night with a first-period pin over Lochlan Browning.
