Bremerton boys set records en route to league track title

Bainbridge girls capture league title

The Bremerton Knights set some records at the 2A Olympic League track and field championships May 8-10 at North Mason.

Six Kitsap teams competed in the championships. Bremerton and Bainbridge both stood out, earning the most points cumulatively throughout the meet. The Knights’ boys earned 172.5 points while the Bainbridge girls earned 172 points spanning across 18 separate events. The top five athletes from each event advanced to districts.

Results included:

– Bremerton Knight Dallin Anderson set OL records in the boys 1600 meter (4:17.31) and the boys 800M (1:53.79). The previous record for the boys 1600M was 4:20.50, and the record for the boys 800M was 1:55.40

– Bremerton Knight Isaiah Cadengo set OL records in the boys 200M event (21.62) and the Boys 400M (48.20). The previous record for the boys 200M was 22.03 and the record for the boys 400M was 48.91. Cadengo also set a personal record in the 100M, running 10.89 seconds.

– The Bremerton team of Cadengo, Anderson, Joshua Leuders, and Hawkin Ernst set an OL record for the 4×400 event, earning a time of 3:21.36. The previous record was 3:24.40.

– Bremerton Knights Rylee Wheaton (38-11.00) and Kali Christ (35-06.75) both qualified for districts in the girls shot put event.

– Bainbridge Spartan Jonas Michael set an OL record in the boys pole vault, earning a score of 15-07.00. The previous record was 15-01.

– Bainbridge Spartan Garrett Goade placed first overall in the boys 110M hurdle event, earning a score of 17.30.

– Bainbridge Spartan Sabine Hartenstine placed second overall in the girls 100M hurdle with a time of 16.07. She also placed first overall in the girls 300M hurdle, earning a score of 46.22.

– Bainbridge Spartan Evelyn Shutske placed first overall in the girls 1600M event with a time of 5:10.54.

– The Bainbridge team of Cara Brundige, Maya Zick, Laine Romney, and Cate Torrell placed first overall in the girls 4x100M event, earning a time of 50.27.

– Bainbridge Spartan Maya Jimenez qualified for districts in the girls triple jump event with a score of 35-03.00 and girls long jump with a score of 16-04.00.

– Bainbridge Spartan Kaitlyn Davis qualified for districts in the girls 3200M event with a time of 12:04.30.

– Bainbridge Spartan Cate Torrel qualified for districts in the girls 200M event with a time of 25.31.

– North Kitsap Viking Cohen Meis placed second overall in the boys 100M event with a time of 11.12.

– NK Viking Calina Morgan placed first overall in the girls 100M with a time of 12.65.

– The NK team of Treylin Bell, Lathan Becoats, Solomon Furne, and Meis placed first overall in the boys 4x100M event, earning a time of 43.06.

– NK Viking Julie Castillejo placed first overall in the girls 400M event with a time of 59.80.

– NK Viking Phoebe Aala placed second overall in the girls discus event with a score of 109-09.00.

– Olympic Trojan Rico Cooper placed first overall in the boys long jump event with a score of 21-02.00.

– Olympic Trojan DeQuan Freeland placed first overall in the boys shot put, earning a score of 47-10.75.
