BHS grad’s high jump ties 3rd-best in Division III history

A 2022 Bainbridge High School graduate recently tied the third-best indoor high jump in NCAA Division III history.

Allie Wildsmith, who competes in track and field for the Coast Guard Academy, jumped 1.8 meters, about 5-foot-10.8 inches at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational Jan. 17-19 in New London, CT.

The feat also matched the best jump from a Division III athlete since 2000. Wildsmith cleared the bar on her first attempt. She was an All-American last year in the indoor high jump.

At BHS, she took first in the Olympic League with a jump of 5-1 as a senior in 2022, then followed that up with a jump of 5-4 to place second at districts. She was sixth at state with a 5-2.

At 6-foot-tall, Wildsmith also was a middle blocker for her college volleyball team in 2023. She was MVP for the Olympic League in 2021 in volleyball.
