Bainbridge doubly bested at year’s final wrestling match

The last wrestling match of the regular season saw the Bainbridge High School varsity squad lose to Nathan Hale and Ingraham on the road Jan. 30.

First in the disappointing doubleheader, the Spartans were defeated by the Rams 72-12.

Seven forfeits negated some brackets, and at least one BHS athlete, Quentin Ikuse (138-pounds) received a bye.

One bright spot: BHS’ Garrett Swanson (106-pounds) bested Galen Baird.

Harrison Cate was defeated by Ingraham’s Julian Collins in the 113-pound match, as was Asher Lane by Christian Bailey in the 132-pound match.

Ingraham’s Isaiah Phillips pinned Christopher Longridge (145-pounds), and Kieran Geisness pinned Wyatt Goad in the 182-pound match.

Heavyweight Spartan Julian Blythe (195-pounds) was pinned by Tre Harstad.

Against Nathan Hale, the Spartans were on the wrong side of a 29-27 contest.

Swanson scored a 16-1 win in the 106-pound bracket against Arlo Wilton.

Cate was pinned in 1:03 by NH’s Hamza Echari.

Lane was defeated in a 15-0 decision win by Emmett Donnelly in the 132-pound bracket.

Ikuse (138 pounds) won a 13-6 decision against Brendan Cleary.

In the night’s only exhibition match, Longridge pinned Cleary in 3:51.

There were three forfeits, four double forfeits, and three BHS wrestlers received a bye.
