Bainbridge boy swimmers dominate districts

Olympic, Kingston swimmers also qualify for state

The Bainbridge Spartans boys swim team cleaned house at the 2A district swim meet at Mount Tahoma High School Feb. 14-15, winning all events which resulted in many relay teams and individuals qualifying for state.

The 2A state swim championships take place Feb. 20-22 at the King County Aquatic Center.

Results:

Team scores: first place – Bainbridge, 434; second place – Steilacoom, 173; third place – Port Angeles, 155

50-yard freestyle: first place – Aidan Cole, Bainbridge senior (21.41); second place – Elias Dean, Bainbridge senior (22.07), third place – Weston Adams, Olympic freshman (22.61), all three qualified for state. Bainbridge junior Mathias Bang-Knudsen (22.62) also qualified for state.

100-yard fly: first place – Sota Inoue, Bainbridge junior (53.00), second place – Ian Letson, Bainbridge sophomore (53.93), third place – Leo Soboil, Bainbridge sophomore (57.20), all three qualified for state.

100-yard free: first place – Cole (46.86); second place – Dean (48.2); third place – Alex Geddes, Bainbridge freshman (51.94), all three qualified for state.

100-yard backstroke: first place – Bang-Knudsen (53.95), second place – Tavyn Shelton, Olympic senior (56.34); third place – Calvin Cox, Bainbridge freshman (58.88), all three qualified for state.

100-yard breaststroke: first place – Ryan Rich, Bainbridge junior (1:00.05), second place – Sawyer Adams, Olympic junior (1:01.30), both qualified for state. Bainbridge senior Hayden Ludwig (1:03.92) also qualified for state.

200-yard medley relay: first place – Bainbridge (Inoue, Rich, Letson, Bang-Knudsen) (1:39.26); second place – Olympic (Shelton, S. Adams, senior Trenton Crandall, W. Adams) (1:43.33), both teams qualify for state.

200-yard free: first place – Wyatt Livingston, Bainbridge freshman (1:49.97), qualified for state; second place – Josh VanHuis, Kingston junior (1:53.93); third place – Cox (1:54.08).

200-yard individual medley: first place – Inoue ( 1:58.94); second place – Letson (2:00.94); third place – Rich (2:06.32), all three qualified for state.

200 yard free relay: first place – Bainbridge (Cole, sophomore Bradley Roloff, Ludwig, Dean) (1:31.03), qualified for state; second place – PA (1:37.37); third place – Steilacoom (1:38.19)

400-yard free relay: first place – Bainbridge (Bang-Knudsen, Dean, Inoue, Cole) (3:18.19); second place – Olympic (W. Adams, Shelton, S. Adams, senior Kaleb Chappell) (3:28.35), both teams qualified for state.

500-yard free: first place – Livingston (4:53.38), third place – VanHuis (5:08.35), both qualified for state.
