Stadium’s defense struggled to stop Bainbridge’s attackers in the first half.
Bainbridge struck early, scoring seven goals in the first quarter.

The Bainbridge Spartans water polo team coasted to a 14-2 victory over Stadium Sept. 22 in their second home match of the season.

In the first period, three Spartans scored multiple goals, giving Bainbridge a 7-0 lead. Stadium struggled to connect passes in the attacking zone, forcing them to have just a handful of shots on target.

Bainbridge’s offense continued to flourish in the second and third periods to boost the score to 12-0. With that huge lead, the Spartans purposely began to take shot clock violations to run down the clock and keep from scoring more. They did give up a score, however, when a rebound off an off-target shot came right to a Stadium player in front of the goal.

By the time the game reached the last period, the Spartan backups stepped into the pool. Despite having a handful of penalties, the Spartans held Stadium to just a few more shots, only allowing two on target and none in the goal.

Bainbridge added two late goals in the fourth period, giving them the 14-2 victory.
