Bainbridge bags 3rd place in water polo tourney

The Bainbridge High School varsity boys water polo team splashed, shot and fought their way to a third-place finish in a recent tournament in Newberg, Oregon.

Losing only one of their five matches, the Spartans handily worked their way through the bracket. They bested West Albany 12-3; shut out Emerald Ridge 16-0; were themselves defeated by Newberg 11-5; slashed through Summit 15-7; and finally rocked Reynolds 12-3.

The island squad next continued playing on the road early last week before returning home to host Mercer Island last late week.

They will next play at home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 against Puyallup.
