Lt. Col. Richard Mirkovich

Devoted husband, father, and grandfather, retired Lieutenant Colonel US Army, and former Skipper of the FV Bainbridge, Richard S. Mirkovich, passed away after a long fight with leukemia.

Richard, son of Sam and Josephine (Pina) Mirkovich, grew up on Bainbridge Island, graduated from Bainbridge High School and Seattle University.

He is preceded in death by his wife Susan, survived by his sons Nicholas, Michael, Walter, Peter, and Samuel (Katie); his darling granddaughter Isla; his sister Cathryn Morovich (John); and his brother Sam Mirkovich (Leslie) and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass Monday, June 26th, 10:30 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 812 Bowker St SE, Lacey WA. Interment with military honors at 12:00 PM, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 5930 Mullen Rd SE, Lacey WA. Reception to follow at Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Ave SE, Olympia WA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
