Mary Ellen Mahaffey

Mary Ellen Mahaffey died May 15 at the Hospice of Kitsap County Care Center in Bremerton. She was 77.

She was born on September 14, 1932, to Alexander and Violet Bagley Napoleon.

She was an enrolled Suquamish Tribal member, active in the Suquamish community and employed at the Tribal Court for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by husband Bob Greer, by whom she was widowed and later Dan Mahaffey; father Alexander Napoleon Sr.; mother Violet Bagley-Napoleon; brothers Alexander “Toon” Napoleon Jr., Donald Napoleon, and Jerry Deputy; and sister Vivian Mansikka.

She is survived by stepmother Bertha Napoleon; sisters Elizabeth Puckett, Marjorie Napoleon, Linda O’Connor; brother, Duane Napoleon; daughter Janet Surratt; sons Robert Bird, Eric Greer, David Greer; three grandchildren Shanel Greer, Jamie Surratt and Sean Surratt; three great grandchildren, Kory Nokes, Zoie Pemble and Baby Surratt; and many other family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 1 p.m. May 24 at The Suquamish Tribal Community House, 7235 Parkway, Suquamish. Interment will follow at the tribal cemetery.
