Martha Charles, of little Boston, died peacefully in her home on Feb. 7. She was 83.

She was born July 7, 1925 at Point Julia to Ed and Irene Purser, both of Little Boston.

She worked at the Pope and Talbot Saw Mill, the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Martha and Mary Care Center. She enjoyed shopping at yard sales; puzzle books; and watching “Wheel of Fortune,” “Cops” and wrestling. She loved family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by both parents Ed and Irene; her husband, Herbert Charles Sr.; son Herbert Charles Jr.; three sisters, Jane Laub of Bremerton, Vera Anderson of Little Boston and Stella Carpenter of Bremerton; two brothers, Stan and Bud Purser of Little Boston; and one great-great granddaughter, Maria Hernandez of Little Boston.

She is survived by her two brothers, Aaron and Rudolph Purser. both of Little Boston; sister Ann Anderson, also of Little Boston; daughters Mary Trevathan and Carolyn Charles of Little Boston and Eileen Charles of Quilcene; and son Leroy Charles also of Little Boston. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at noon Feb. 13 followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. at teh Port Gamble Tribal Gym in Kingston. Interment will follow at the Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cook Family Funeral Home.
