Margot Jacobs

1926-2022

Margot Ann (Hale) Jacobs passed away June 20, 2022 at Northridge Hospital in southern California at the age of 96. She lived on Bainbridge Island for 25 years, from 1997 to 2021. She is survived by her four children, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and their children; and numerous extended relations and friends who became part of her beloved family. Her husband, Arthur Guyer Jacobs Jr., preceded her in death in 1979. Margot was inquisitive, a voracious reader and collector (and distributor) of facts and factoids, loved travel and new places, love to talk more than she would admit, and gave generously of herself to family, friends, church, the senior center, the historical society, and other charitable organizations. At the age of 84, she walked 5K for charity 2 weeks before she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. She beat back cancer again when she was 90, but finally was taken down by her inability to stay put in a wheelchair, resulting in two broken hips. Her spirit was indomitable, her enthusiasm seemingly limitless, and her generosity noteworthy. She made lots and lots of cookies. She raffled cookies for charity, gave cookies to neighbor kids to sell at the 4th of July parade, distributed cookies to friends and families at Christmas, and provided cookies to the senior center, the history museum, and church for parties, dances, Bingo, and for no reason in particular other than to give to others. If you were lucky, you also got special cookies on Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and Christmas. She will be missed by all who knew her.
