Leona Freeman

1929 – 2021

Leona Freeman, 91, of Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her daughter Jane.

Her life began as Leona Weaver in 1929, daughter of Carmen (Comstock) and Elmer Weaver in Miles City, Montana. After graduating from Great Falls High School, she moved to San Jose, California with her parents, where she met her future husband Russell Freeman.

With two young boys, they moved to Des Moines, Washington in the mid 50s and then to Pleasant Beach on Bainbridge Island in 1968.

She thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the community; working as Blakely School secretary, later commuting to work at Seafirst, her book club, coffee group, volunteering at Bargain Boutique, and as a member of the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church.

Her husband preceded her in death in 2019. She is survived by daughter Jane, sons Glenn and Craig, three grandsons and three great-grand children—we all loved her dearly.

She will always be remembered for her kind nature, warm smile and pleasant way. She is missed. Please see the obituaries at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com for a further tribute.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church.
