Judith Ann Barton, of Bainbridge Island, died on Sept. 16 after a long battle with cancer. Her goal was to reach her 70th birthday and see the roses bloom this year, which she did.
She was born in 1939 in upstate Michigan. She was employed as a merchant marine geologist and worked all over the world, settling on Bainbridge Island in her later years. She also worked on the ferries, for the post office and as a landscape designer.
She is survived by her brother, Michael Barton, of Oregon.
She loved all four-legged animals. Her favorite organizations were PAWS of Bainbridge Island and Helpline House.
