Joseph Myers Koch, Jr.

June 12, 1918 – June 27, 2010

Joseph Myers Koch, Jr., passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center in Bremerton, Washington.  He was born on June 12, 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was 92 years of age. Joseph was a resident of Bainbridge Island, having lived previously in Montclair, New Jersey and Bellevue, Washington. Joseph was educated in New England schools  – The Fessenden School, Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., Harvard College and Harvard Business School, where he received his MBA. 

Joseph worked for the Forstmann Woolen Company in New York, as well as Mutual Benefit Life and the Boeing Company.  He served his Country during WW11 in the U.S. Navy, as Lt. Commander on a destroyer in the Pacific. 

Joe was passionate about history and poetry. He loved music and gardening and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his wife, Alice McMicken Koch of Bainbridge Island, daughters Gretchen Moores-Hooper (John), of Bainbridge Island and Caroline B. Koch of Priest Lake, Idaho. He leaves seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 

His parents, Joseph M. and Bertha R. Koch, and his son, Joseph M. Koch 111, preceded Joseph in death.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 3:00 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1187 Wyatt Way N.W. on Bainbridge Island.  A reception will follow at the family home.
