H. Marguerite Hoyum

H. Marguerite Hoyum, 85, died March 3 at Messenger House Care Center on Bainbridge Island.

She was born Aug. 4, 1920 in Reardon, Wash. to William John Arp and Flena Hoge.

She was an 80-year resident of the Spokane area.

She devoted her life to her family and volunteered her time to her church, Meals on Wheels, Greater Spokane Music Festival, Hutton Elementary School PTA, Cross Walk (a ministry to help troubled teens) and many other areas of service. She also was a board member of the Riverview Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Central Lutheran Church in Spokane and the Port Madison Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Hoyum, and her granddaughter, Carolyn Jean Hoyum.

She is survived by her children; Ron Hoyum and his wife, Lori, and Julee Huggins and her husband Gary; siblings Leora (Frank) Renner and Chris (Bill) Wyatt; grandchildren Erica, John and Gretchen; and nephews Stephen and Greg Renner and Chuck and Gordon Wyatt.

Graveside services were March 7 at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane.

A local memorial service will be held at a future date.
