‘CJ’ Carroll John Hall, CFA

Oct. 28, 1987 - Aug. 25, 2017

Loving son and compassionate brother, hero, great friend and companion, athlete, economics student and portfolio analyst, Friend of Bills; CJ unexpectedly went home on Friday, August 25 in the presence of family and friends at Harborview Medical Center.

CJ was fourth generation Bainbridge Island native and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2006. He attended University of Redlands on a baseball scholarship and later graduated from the College of Charleston, where he obtained his Bachelors of Economics in 2011. He returned home and was employed by Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, HomeStreet Bank and finally Russell Investments where he was a part of their Overlay Services Group as a Portfolio Analyst. CJ received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2016 and was an active member of the CFA Society Seattle, serving as Committee Chair for several years.

CJ was a fan of Osho, lover of the arts, music, philosophy, working-out and taking long walks on Capitol Hill with his dog, Raleigh. He found peace hiking in the Olympic Mountains and kicking back at his parent’s home in beautiful Happy Valley, Sequim. Most of all, CJ just liked being in the company of friends and family, watching his beloved Mariners or Seahawks or reading a good book on stock fundamentals or economic history. In his short time CJ touched many lives with his understanding, compassion and unconditional love. He was a true friend who always had your back and would give those in need a little extra time and conversation, wherever he may find them. The world has truly lost a wonderful person.

CJ is survived by many loving friends, his mother and father, Phil and Theresa Hall; sister, Laura Hall; special sweetheart and confidant, Taylor Shimizu; aunt and uncle, Mary Hall and Kelly Hall; aunt and uncle, John and Barbara Hall; aunt, Claire Shaw; aunt and uncle, Patricia Fliege and Chris Jacobson; aunt, Jean Fliege, many cousins, and finally, his very best buddy, dog Raleigh. CJ is preceded in death by his uncle, Ken Schuricht.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in CJ’s name to East West Outreach, an orphanage in Romania that CJ supported: East West Outreach, c/o Jon Staab, 9701 Olympus Beach Rd, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110

A memorial service with reception to follow will be held: Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 1:00-4:00 pm at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1187 Wyatt Way NE, Bainbridge Island, WA. Please visit Cook Family Funeral Home.com to sign their guest book.

So, CJ, until we meet again, we part with

The Serenity Prayer;

God grant me the

Serenity to accept

The things I cannot change,

Courage to change

The things I can,

And the Wisdom to know

The difference.
