Catherine ‘Katy’ Wing

Catherine “Katy” Wing passed away Saturday, Nov. 4 in Gig Harbor from a recurrent brain tumor. She was 71.

Katy was born in Port Townsend to Beverly Smith, a paper mill manager, and Margaret Smith, a librarian and homemaker.

In 1969, Katy married Russell Wing. They met at the University of Washington when they both lived in McMahon Hall, a co-ed dorm, a very cutting edge housing arrangement for the time. During their years together they lived in Athens, Georgia; Alameda and Palo Alto, California; and Bellevue, Kirkland, Bainbridge Island and Gig Harbor.

Katy is survived by her husband Russ; sons Robert (Anna) and James; granddaughter Cora; sisters Bernice (Karl), Emmy (Wayne), Carolyn (Brad), Molly and Janet (Chuck); brother-in-law Mike; and all of their families.
