Bonita (Bunny) Marie Cameron

April 24, 1948 - November 17, 2020

Bunny Cameron, Bainbridge Island resident, was born April 24, 1948, and passed away peacefully November 17. 2020.

Bunny is survived by her daughter, Cameron (Shawn) Mortensen; her granddaughter, Taylor Marie; two step-sons, Marc and Chad Kanchuk; sisters Donna Schell and, Betty Discher; brother, Donald Cameron; many nieces and nephews; and her many friends that adored her.

Bunny was known for her humor, generosity, and adventurous spirit. She was born and raised on Whidbey Island, had a successful business career in Anchorage, Alaska, and then moved in the 80s to Bainbridge Island with her husband, Roger and daughter, Cameron.

Together, they ran a catering business and a bed and breakfast named The Bombay House. Bunny poured her heart and soul into writing a cookbook, Breakfast with Bunny . She used to say “twenty percent of the recipes are good, eighty percent are fabulous.” Her family would say that one hundred percent were fabulous given the amount of love she put into her cooking.

After selling The Bombay House, Bunny continued cooking as a private chef on yachts, planes, and in private homes. Bunny added caregiver to her resume in the more recent years providing wonderful service to each client and treating them as family.

Over the years Bunny had many adventures and loved to travel. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went.

Bunny’s most recent adventure was a three year battle with pancreatic cancer, where she was an inspiration to her friends and caregivers. After holding her granddaughter, Taylor for the first time (in October) Bunny requested that Taylor be told about her “nana’s” adventurous spirit through beautiful memories and tales of adventure, laughter and love.

Bunny was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. She will be remembered as an amazing mother, nana, sister, aunt, business owner, author, private chef, caregiver, and friend to many. We will miss her every day.

At Bunny’s request there will be no services.
