Beverly Joyce Gimlin

December 5, 1954 - January 6, 2021

Beverly Joyce Gimlin passed away on January 6, 2021, in Portland, Oregon, with dignity and grace following a long battle with leukemia. She was born December 5, 1954, in DeQueen, AR, and graduated in 1973 from Carnegie High School in Carnegie, OK. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Berkeley and a Master of Fine Arts with Honors from the California College of the Arts. Beverly found her home on the West Coast, living most of her life in California, Washington, and Oregon. She was a creative, talented, and an accomplished artist who exhibited in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Seattle, to name a few. She left this world a better place because of her artwork and her active role in society. She was very passionate and supportive of women’s rights and of all people’s right to live free from sexism and racism. Beverly was a very fun-loving, compassionate, and independent person who believed in herself. She was also a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and cousin who leaves behind her son Phoenix Glendinning and his partner Tal Stowell; her daughter Ginger Glendinning and her partner Ivan Simic; her three brothers and their spouses David and Jan Gimlin of Hobart, OK, Mark and Fong Gimlin of Dallas, TX and Danny and Janie Behne of Norman, OK; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces in the US and the UK. Due to the COVID pandemic, a memorial service will be held later, as she would have preferred, when safe for family and friends to gather. If you would like more information about Beverly, the family suggests you have a beer or glass of wine, search her name on the Internet and learn of her many accomplishments.
