Bainbridge Gardens has canceled its annual Pumpkin Walk this weekend because of the stormy weather.
The event, a fundraiser for the Bainbridge Island Boys & Girls Club, had been planned for Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15.
Bainbridge Gardens announced the cancellation of the popular outdoor event Friday afternoon, and said it didn’t want to put families at risk.
A powerful windstorm was battering Puget Sound and Western Washington Friday, and a larger, more powerful storm is expected to hit the region Saturday.
As heavy rain and strong winds continued into Friday afternoon, thousands of home on Bainbridge Island were left without power after falling trees and branches knocked down power lines across the island, from Agate Point to South Beach.
