Travis presents at 2018 Student Symposium

Savannah Travis of Bainbridge Island presented original research at Ohio Wesleyan University’s 2018 Student Symposium.

The fourth-annual event, held April 18, allowed students to share the breadth and depth of their Ohio Wesleyan academic work, hone their professional presentation skills, and foster communication about future research projects.

Travis presented “Characterization of the Yeast Gene YDL218W: Carbon Source-Dependent Growth Rates and Cell Wall Defects.”

Travis was mentored by Ohio Wesleyan faculty member David Markwardt.

Undergraduate research, conducted under the mentorship of expert faculty, is a central component of the OWU Connection, Ohio Wesleyan’s signature approach to learning.

Ohio Wesleyan’s curriculum works to link academic theory with real-world practice; cross academic department boundaries to support deeper, interconnected learning; and prepare students for global citizenship and leadership.

Founded in 1842, Ohio Wesleyan University is a private liberal arts university and is located in Delaware, Ohio.
