Third case of COVD-19 found in Kitsap County

PORT ORCHARD — A third positive case of novel coronavirus — the latest one an individual in their 40s living in South Kitsap — has been reported by the Kitsap Public Health District today.

Dr. Susan Turner, Kitsap Public Health District officer, said the individual is now in isolation. She said the agency is working “as quickly as possible to notify people identified as having been in close contact with the affected individual.”

Two previously reported positive cases, both on Bainbridge Island, were disclosed earlier this week.

“Unfortunately, we expect to see more cases of COVID-19 in our county in the coming days and weeks, especially as testing becomes more available,” Turner said.

“We need to work together as a community to slow the spread of this illness and protect our neighbors who are most at risk,” she said. “We are asking all Kitsap residents to stay calm, stay informed and take steps to protect their health and the health of those around them. It is very important to stay home when you are sick and we encourage community members to assist friends and family who may need to stay home.”

So far, according to the health district, 41 total negative tests for COVID-19 in Kitsap County have been reported.
