St. Cecilia students, their families and school staff and teachers took over the Bainbridge High School track recently for their first jog-a-than fundraiser event.

“We eliminated a few other smaller fundraisers so we could focus on this healthy way to raise funds for our school,” said St. Cecilia Principal Susan Kilbane.

Parents, she noted, organized the entire event, which saw her and the parish priest hit the track and the students meet their goal of raising nearly $10,000.

Runners racked up 1,232 combined laps around the track — about 308 miles total.

Prizes were given to students who completed the most laps in the time allotted. Eighth grader Alessandro Scott lead the pack, completing 30 trips around the track throughout the event.

A four-way tie for second place ensued, with sixth-graders Grayce Shaffer, Harper Muma, Cormac Dunstan and fourth-grader Hugh Ogilvie all racking up 28 laps in all.

Second-grader Maggie Dunstan and fifth-grader Nicolas Vaya-Webb locked up third-place by running 27 laps apiece.
