Baseball gets their first win

Matt Frazee just missed hitting for the cycle Wednesday as the Bainbridge baseball team came back to defeat the Garfield Bulldogs 5-3 at Garfield High School.

Zach Peach got the win in long relief, going four innings and giving up one run on three hits, while walking one and striking out six.

The Spartans couldn’t do much against Bulldog pitcher Jeremy Zink, but when he left in the fifth with a 2-0 lead, they got on the board.

Frazee hit a double to score Michael Heald, then stole third and home to tie the score.

After C.J. Hall walked, Robbie Stevenson doubled to bring him home.

Frazee had a two RBI triple in the sixth to increase their score to 5-2.

Garfield added a run in their half of the sixth, but that’s all they could muster.

Hall pitched an inning of relief for the save. He struck out two.

Bainbridge played Rainier Beach yesterday. They take on Bishop Blanchet next Wednesday.

Fastpitchers defeat NK

After coming close to defeating North Kitsap on Monday, the Bainbridge fastpitch team kept the Vikings off the scoreboard on Wednesday, defeating them 1-0 at North Kitsap High School.

Freshman Lindsay Willman went all seven innings and allowed just two hits and three walks, while striking out seven.

The Spartan defense backed up Willman by commiting no errors.

In the seventh, Meika Monroe singled to drive in Chelsie Kakela for the game’s only run.

Bainbridge played Rainier Beach yesterday. They travel to Nathan Hale on Monday and hosts Bishop Blanchet on Wednesday.
