Schneider gets nod for Bainbridge’s deputy mayor position

Bainbridge Island City Councilwoman Leslie Schneider was unanimously appointed to serve as deputy mayor at the council’s last meeting.

Councilman Joe Deets, outgoing deputy mayor, nominated Schneider for the post.

Schneider will serve in the position from January through June 2019.

“I’m looking forward to it,” she told her council colleagues after they voted to install her as deputy mayor during the Dec. 11 council meeting.

Schneider is a Central Ward representative who was appointed to council in April.
