Sawyer and Kona are this week’s adoptable pets

This week’s adoptable pets are Sawyer and Kona.

For adoption through PAWS:

Sawyer is a 2-year-old shorthaired torbie female.

She was dropped at a youth day camp and taken in by one of the counselors. He gave her a place to give birth and take care of her five kittens. They’ve all found homes. Now it’s Sawyer’s turn. She is a sweet and petite girl who likes to be petted on her terms. She’s been indoor/outdoor.

She has been OK with older mannerly children but shies away from younger, louder ones. You can meet Sawyer at the PAWS Pleasant Beach adoption center, open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

For adoption through Kitsap Humane Society:

Meet Kona!

She is a gorgeous chocolate-and-white pup about 3 years old who is super snuggly and affectionate – and she’s funny to boot.

Kona has a silly personality and is super smart. She knows “sit” and “paw” already and if treats are involved she’s excited to learn even more new stuff.

Kona is spending some time in a foster home, and she is thriving in a home environment. She is housebroken, and prefers a secure fenced yard to run and play in. She loves to lounge in the sun and enjoys the great outdoors (quiet hikes in nature are also on her list of favs).

Strangers and small kids make her nervous, so Kona would do best in a calm home without many visitors and without any kids.

Since new situations and people can be scary, Kona will need a quiet home with not a lot of visitors where she can be given lots of time to settle in and learn to trust her new family.

Kona would love a home where she isn’t left alone for too long (being apart from her family really gets her down). Kona needs to be the only pet in the home.

She is currently in foster care — if you would like to know more about her, e-mail Samantha at sfairweather@kitsap-humane.org.
