The annual referral window for highly capable services for Bainbridge Island School District students in grades 1-12 opens on Sept. 26 and closes on Oct. 14.

Any currently enrolled district student may be referred for screening by a teacher, parent or community member.

All students referred will be given the CogAT screener at their school between Oct. 24 and Oct. 28.

As part of the screening process, district and state assessment results will also be reviewed by the director of assessment. Any student referred who has a score at or above the 95th percentile in any of those assessments will then be administered the CogAT full battery during regular school hours.

Referral forms and parent permission to test forms can be found on the district’s website at www.bisd303.org. Forms are also available in school offices.

Students already identified as highly capable by the district do not need to be referred again.

The referral window for current kindergarten students will be in January.
