PO man arrested in homicide

A 39-year-old Port Orchard man is in custody after reportedly shooting and killing a 31-year-old Puyallup man, possibly over mail theft, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Facebook site says.

The homicide took place in the 5200 block of Brady Place in Port Orchard. Neighbors reported hearing gunfire at about 11 p.m. Jan. 9 and called 911.

The alleged shooter was scheduled to appear in Kitsap County Superior Court Jan. 10, but it was delayed until Wednesday. Bail is to be set at $1 million on suspicion of first-degree murder.

The victim was identified by the county Medical Examiner’s Office as Richard U. Taii. Cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head.
