Nighttime lane closures planned for Highway 305

Drivers are being advised to expect delays in the vicinity of the Agate Pass Bridge on Highway 305 during overnight hours in the coming weeks, as Washington State Department of Transportation bridge maintenance crews will apply water resistant material to the bridge expansion joints.

The material, officials said, which requires periodic reapplication, helps to keep water out of the expansion joints to reduce the potential of corrosion.

The Agate Pass Bridge will be reduced to one-way alternating traffic from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14 though Wednesday, Aug. 16, and Monday, Aug. 21 through Thursday, Aug. 24.

Unlike annual Agate Pass Bridge cleaning, which occurs each February, this work can be done at night, officials said, since the work does not require the use of under-bridge-I=inspection-trucks or detailed inspection of the bridge structure.
