New CityMD/CHI Franciscan urgent care center now open at Virginia Mason Bainbridge Island Center

CHI Franciscan and CityMD’s new urgent care center in the Virginia Mason Bainbridge Island Medical Center is now open.

One of eight CityMD sites currently serving communities across Kitsap, King and Pierce counties, the facility began operations last week at 1344 Wintergreen Lane NE.

“Together with CityMD and Virginia Mason, we are redefining urgent care in the Puget Sound — our patient’s experience is our highest priority,” said Ketul J. Patel, CEO of CHI Franciscan. “We are committed to ensuring families on Bainbridge Island have access to high quality care that’s convenient, affordable, and close to home.”

The center will see patients seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mondays through Fridays; from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

“The urgent care services provided by CHI Franciscan and CityMD further expand access to needed, affordable care options for the entire community,” said Virginia Mason Chairman and CEO Gary S. Kaplan.

“Our team is delighted that the new Aftercare program is in the same facility as Virginia Mason’s primary and specialty services,” he added. “This co-location of medical expertise and services is an additional convenience for patients and their families.”

CityMD’s urgent care model employs primarily board-certified emergency medicine doctors, center officials said.

Together with key clinical support staff, like X-ray technicians and medical assistants, they offer easily-accessible medical care for a variety of illnesses and injuries, including sprains, minor fractures, allergies, urinary tract infections, asthma, and upper respiratory infections.

Additionally, since it’s co-located with other medical services on the island, CityMD’s Aftercare program will provide vital follow-up services to patients and will help to connect them with a full continuum of primary and specialty care services.

Virginia Mason opened the new Bainbridge Island Medical Center site in June 2018 in the commercial development next to Highway 305 and High School Road, expanding same-day access to family medicine and internal medicine, while also offering a wide range of specialty-care services.
