David Cobb, a co-founder of Move to Amend, the nationwide effort to repeal the Supreme Court’s controversial Citizens United decision, will be speaking on Bainbridge Island next week.

Cobb, a former Green Party presidential nominee, will visit Eagle Harbor Congregational Church for a talk scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17 at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church, 105 Winslow Way West.

Cobb is appearing in support of Washington citizens’ Initiative 735, which seeks to make Washington the 17th state to support a constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court decision that opened the floodgates to unregulated campaign contributions.

“We recognize that amending the Constitution to restore the power of the people over corporations will not be easy, but we know correcting the Supreme Court is imperative to the progress of our nation,” Cobb said.

Also appearing at the event will be Gabe Meyer, the campaign director of WAMend (Washington Coalition to Amend the Constitution), and Fran Korten, the publisher of Yes! Magazine.

There is no charge to attend.
