Man injured following officer-involved shooting in Bremerton

The Kitsap County Incident Response Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting in the Fred Meyer parking lot off Highway 303 in unincorporated Bremerton just before midnight May 14, where a man was hospitalized but in stable condition from a gunshot injury.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a State Patrol Trooper were on scene, per KCSO. No law enforcement officers were injured.

KCSO deputies responded to a 911 call before midnight from an employee of a mobile surveillance company reporting a possible prowler in the Fred Meyer parking lot on Hwy 303. While investigating and making contact with the suspect, a deputy discharged their firearm, injuring him, per KCIRT. The injury is not life-threatening and the man was transported to Tacoma General Hospital.

KCIRT is gathering details and Bremerton police are leading the investigation. Due to KCSO’s involvement in the incident, that agency will not participate in the investigation.
