Lockdown at Bainbridge High | Photo of the day 2.28

Police gather outside Bainbridge High School in the wake of a campus lockdown being called Wednesday afternoon.

The lockdown — which was extended to the nearby schools of Commodore Options and Ordway Elementary — was lifted just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The alert came after a suspicious man followed a female student into a restroom in the school’s main building.

Deputy Police Chief Jeff Horn said an unknown man walked into the lobby of Bainbridge High and was loitering near the front office, looking into the display cases.

He then reportedly followed a female student into a restroom.

“She goes into the bathroom; then he follows her in,” Horn said.

But when the man started looking under the stall doors in the restroom, the student quickly left and alerted school staff.

The man didn’t chase after the student, Horn said.
