Kitsap health officials report no new cases of COVID-19 Sunday

No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kitsap County on Sunday, according to a 2 p.m. update from the Kitsap Public Health District. On Saturday, KPHD reported a total of 132 confirmed cases countywide and one death.

The 132 positive tests reported since March 8 have been spread fairly evenly throughout the mainland of Kitsap County. In Bremerton 38 cases have been reported, 33 in South Kitsap, 27 in North Kitsap, 23 in Central Kitsap and 11 on Bainbridge Island. One death has been reported.

Updated total and negative testing numbers have not been available this week due to delays at the state level. At last count, there were 1,944 tests performed and 1,840 came back negative. This number is likely significantly higher.

Through April 6, approximately 12 percent of residents tested had been hospitalized. Not all hospitalizations are due to the coronavirus; some have been due to coronavirus-like illnesses and did not necessarily have a lab-confirmed positive test associated.

The age breakdown for confirmed cases is:

0-19: five;

20-29: 22;

30-39: 14;

40-49: 24;

50-59: 35;

60-69: 17;

70-79: 10; and

80-plus: 5.
