Kings to retire; BI gallery sold

Andrea Roby-King and Wes King are retiring at the end of the year after 32 years at Roby King Gallery on Bainbridge Island.

Jude Grenney of Park City, Utah, is the new owner. She has owned J GO Gallery there for 20 years.

Roby King has already had three successful exhibitions with J GO Gallery this summer and fall, a news release says. She will be bringing new artists to the region, it adds.

“We cannot express the joy it has been for us to have met and know you either as art collectors or picture framing clients and to have developed valuable friendships,” the release says. “Bainbridge Island is our home so we’ll see you in 2023 on First Fridays as enthusiastic art advocates.”

Nov. 4 the Roby King Annex at Bainbridge Homes Real Estate will be open for First Friday. It will feature acrylic paintings by Parvin and mixed media resin paintings on wood or canvas by Dee Dee Lantzy.

The First Friday reception will be Nov. 4 from 6-8 p.m.

From Nov. 4-27 at the gallery itself, the works of Neal Philpott and Pamela Wachtler will be featured. Philpott features plants and leaves of lush Northwest woods. He is a preservationist painter working in realism. Wachtler’s style is American Impressionistic described as “magical and mysterious within a strong compositional framework and rich palette.”

From Dec. 2-31, the gallery will celebrate the holidays with “Color” by three Northwest artists — Anne Schreivogl, Alfred Curriert and Kathe Fraga.

Hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., closing an hour earlier on Sundays.
