A 40-year-old Bainbridge woman was charged with fourth-degree assault and malicious mischief in Kitsap County District Court after she allegedly attacked her boyfriend and pummeled his truck with a big stick.

Police were called to the Kingston Marina parking lot just after 2:30 a.m. Friday, April 3 after receiving a report of an assault in progress.

When police got to the scene, the victim said his girlfriend was intoxicated and had attacked him. He tried to get away by locking himself in the marina bathroom.

According to an investigation report, the couple’s trouble began after they were drinking at bars in Kingston and she became belligerent.

The man, 51, told police he didn’t want to be around her so he left and went to his boat.

He also said his girlfriend became angrier because he left her and told police she tried to climb around the security gate at the marina to get onto the dock.

He said he then heard her yell and she fell into the water.

After he helped her out of the water, “she went ballistic,” according to the police report, and started hitting him. She threatened to “kick his face in” but he ran to the restroom and locked himself inside.

Police found the man with his shirt torn around his neck and a bite mark on his left forearm.

Police found the Bainbridge woman yelling and hitting the man’s truck with a large stick.

The truck had a broken windshield, dented left front fender, dented right rear fender, dented rear cab and dented front passenger door. The woman had also thrown two boat propellers that had been in the back of the truck into the parking lot.

Damage to the truck was estimated at $2,000.

The woman was arrested and booked into Kitsap County Jail for assault and malicious mischief. Bail was set at $20,000.
