Wintergreen event

A ground-breaking for the Wintergreen Townhomes project will take place Aug. 3 at noon.

The project includes affordable housing.

The public ceremony will be at 1320 and 1329 Wintergreen Lane NE.

Rotary record

The Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale brought in a record $729,386.

All of the net proceeds go to: grants to local nonprofits; community improvement projects; humanitarian projects worldwide; and scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate “service above self.”

Along with that, the sale at Woodward Middle School was a massive recycle/reuse/repurpose effort. Tons of cardboard, metal and plastic were recycled. Local nonprofits were able to go through the site after the sale to take unsold items.
