‘Cello Maniac’ is guest speaker at next SWERV meeting

“Confessions of a Cello Maniac” is the program for the next meeting of Savvy Women Exchanging Relevant Views.

SWERV meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Filipino American Hall.

All women are invited to hear local “freelance” cellist Priscilla Jones and her instrument as she explains how a wooden box and horse hair can come together to create emotion.

Hear the vast array of tone colors the cello produces, learn cello history and ponder how magical or scientific is the instrument’s ability to tug on our heartstrings.

Jones has performed and conducted widely for more than 40 years. She is the founder of Cello Mania and has a new quartet, Olympic Serenade. For the past 25 years she has had a private studio on Bainbridge where she teaches cellists ages 4 to adult.
