Car crash at High School Road necessitates traffic detour

A two-car crash at the intersection of High School Road and Highway 305 late Tuesday morning left at least one person injured.

The collision left both cars on the northbound side of Highway 305, and one vehicle smashed into the retaining wall near the end of the Sound to Olympics Trail on the south side of High School Road.

The crash occurred just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Traffic will be detoured for at least an hour, according to an announcement from the city of Bainbridge Island. “Please use alternate routes during this traffic incident,” the city message read.

At least one person was taken from the scene by ambulance, and debris littered one section of the crosswalk in the immediate wake of the crash.

About five police vehicles, one ambulance, one fire department vehicle and one fire truck were at the scene of the crash.
