Local performs

Rae Isla, who grew up on Bainbridge Island, and her band will anchor a tripleheader lineup Feb. 5 in Seattle at the Crocodile’s Here-After venue. BI might remember Isla as Jaqui Rae Stewart.

The show opens with Portland-based Lily Wecks, with Seattle alt-rockers King Youngblood following Isla.

It’s been more than a decade since they ventured off BI, first to study at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, then establish a career as an indie singer-songwriter-performer in New York. She was stuck in Brooklyn through COVID, using that time to build a multinational following through cyberspace. “I worked tirelessly in 2022 to build a global community around my music online,” she said.

She relocated to Seattle after a year in Mexico City, where she recorded her as-yet-unnamed second album. The follow-up to 2021’s “Another Life” currently is being mastered. Information: raeisla.com, thecrocodile.com.
